typhoon season. It further appeared from the Logbook that the motor
was repeatedly defective, that the schooner during the day watch of
the 26th. July was 28 miles N.W. off Toli-Toli, that ir. Tehde then
gave orders to equip the motor boat in order to try to reach Toli-
-Toli therewith as in the "Pilot" this place was mentioned as a Covern
-ment conling station and he thought he might obtain there all that
was necessary to repair his motor; on 29th, July during the dog watch
the motor boat rerumed on board, without having succeeded in getting
the help required.
On the 31st. July in the afternoon the schooner was
picked up by the launch of the Paleleh Mining Company and during the
dog watch the ship had thrown anchor in the roads of Lintidoe. The
ballast was said to consist of about 80 casks of oil and 36 tons of
drinking water, as the ship had been chartered for a voynge of 3
months.
The object would be the collecting of "curios" by Mr. Wehde, as representative of the "Three Art Galleries" at Chicago.
According to the Captain, from whom the above in- -formation had been obtained, the vessel would have been chartered
for 4,000 pesos per month with guarantee, for due payment, of 50,000 pesos in a Bank at Manila.
